I fortunately had a Junked out Ford pickup in my driveway for a good number of years ..... And in that time I shared many pictures here of various knives on that hood..... It was a sandy colored hood and it showed off knives well with it's neutral background.

Now you are stuck with seeing this red for the foreseeable future. Seems like this parking spot it always in good light.
Everything seems to look great posing on a hood

None of my knives are particularly fancy, this just is a recent one....

Hood works perfectly!

Man! That is a handsome knife. Love the blade shape and the handles. Those burly pins are a nice touch.

Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer you are dreaming. Car hoods are an ever present menace, a looming existential threat to the life of every good citizen. As a knifemaker it is your duty to make a knife capable of penetrating and deaminating that hood not if but when it rises up in revolt with its hooded cult brothers and sisters.

Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer I like your knife. Handle looks comfortable as always, and obviously a great slicer. I was wondering what gave you the thought to put this unconventional handle together, a rear bolster, for lack of a better term. If you don't mind sharing the gearworks behind the mad genius. Thanks.

I got a video as the Ford was being towed out of our driveway.....
I REALLY wanted to have a big ole knife stabbed into it as it was backing up, dragging it out. Just that I was afraid that they'd just keep driving?

And that thing already cost me too much money....... I think I got $650 scrap price, guess Where that money is going? Haha.... :D

I thought there was gonna be some serious JoeX , Cold Steel Proof, type car hood stabbing action ...dang! :p

Love your knives anyway ! ;) Simple and functional looking .

Ugh, maybe I didn't think This through?
.....even More of a disappointment! Lol

Maybe I'll stab my wife's.

I actually thought about This quite a bit.... And I'm still thinking?

Long story short..... I wanted to use green Shadetree burlap on this build.
I like my handles apparently longer than "Normal".

I felt I was cutting it close with how I design my handle shape and needed more material. This is only my 3rd multiple piece handle that I've made. Idk if you can tell with the dark materials here, but I bevel my material so it helps hold down the other materials. This one has my regular handmade hardware, except made from brass instead of aluminum, and bronze. Also flared tubing.

Idk if you ever saw older hunting rifles, occasionally the forearms might be tipped in ebony. I like that look. When I made my first "THANKS- give Away knife" last year, that reminded me of those old safari rifles. So I like doing that.

The last picture, is This knife on the vehicle hood

I have opinions on whether the black should be up front or the rear?
-but I still haven't officially decided yet.....

*I'll look for more pics to post here about that.
*Good question!!!
More, to your point....the grippy part is the green area. The black area is smoother and harder.
I felt for a beefy field knife (which this is) I didn't need grippy texture in the pommel area. At least that's my logic, not sure If it makes sense?
*Although if the harder area was up front, it would be more durable from sheath wear. I'm sure the kydex will eventually wear it down a bit until it finds the Sweet Spot....
