what do you use when you wash your car-

i have some "wash&wax" self dry westley's that i bought back in 99 for my oo neon-
neon was a total piece of crap and i stopped washing regularly it after a year or 2-it think it was when they put in the 3rd motor-around 15,000 i think-

well i always got compliments about how nice the car looked for the next 5 years -i can honestly say i didnt wash it for 4 years or so--

so now i have a 06 corolla-and bought some new simonize self dry when i picked up the car-stuff is garbage compared to the westley's-
spots like a mother -you have to hand dry-

so i forage around the garage and find the 7 year old westley's and brake it out-stuff is great-wash like always, then remove nozzle and let the water pour out of the hose on your car-from the top down and walk away-you might find 10 -15 tiny spots at the most-

anyone try the new stuff that they show all the time on tv-mr clean i think

The Mr. Clean system is effective but expensive. The filters only last for two or three cleanings around here at most. This, coupled with the fact that my car is black and looks like crap after a trip to work and back, finally convinced me to just use whatever wash-and-wax is on sale.

The spots aren't particularly attractive but by Tuesday, the dead bugs and mud cover them up nicely. :)

Same here...a big black Avalanche with red accents. Water spots clean up easily on the few times a year I really want it nice...use a spray detailing product. The rest of the time, blue stuff on sale and a lot of water, dry it out of the sun if possible.

I use Natures Rainwater soapfree system . Its inexpensive and doesn,t add phosphates to the local water supply .

It worked a lot better with my pickup .Heck B:B:Q: paint handled touchups .
I miss my truck .

I've gotta give my baby a bath. At my fathers shop, whatever industrial carwash soap the shop next door has. When I washed it at home, I just used Ajax antibacterial soap.

I use everything Zaino. Probably go overboard, but I screwed up big time a few months ago. We had a really hot spell, and in the middle of the day I hit my black car with some of our patented super-hard water to get off some bird droppings. Should have left them on. I was in a hurry and "drove it dry." Took me actually treating the paint several times for several hours to get _most_ of the hard water spots out. Really stupid.

Zaino is really good, but the car must be cool. For regular washing in warm weather I use some good quality Turtle Wax concentrated stuff, esp. as we lost our shade willow in a storm last year. IMO more important than what wash you use is how you dry it. Go to the Zaino web site and he was some great tips on the best way to dry your car quickly to eliminate spotting.
