Hi All,
I have recently started building wooden scales for my knives and want to do a Byrd Cara Cara 2 next. Here's the problem...
With the FRN Cara, the liners are nested. It would be very difficult to replicate nested scales using wood. HOWEVER, the G-10 model seems to have non-nested liners. I prefer to buy the much cheaper FRN version since I will immediately remove the scales afterward anyway. THEREFORE, what I need to know is this: Are the FRN model liners identical to the G10 model liners? If so, I can just buy the FRN model and build scales which are flush like the G-10 model. Also, do you think I would have any issue with screw lengths etc. if I go that route (AKA is all the hardware identical except for the scales themselves)?
Thanks for the help! I do not have either model at the moment to examine.
