On the spyderco website, these are listed as being right-hand only with a dual position tip up/tip down clip. In the picture, though, they seem to be tip up only with an ambidexterous clip. Does anyone know what the deal is with this? I had planned on getting these until I got worried that they can't be switched to left hand.

I believe it is a typographical error or perhaps the prototypes were tip-up/down, right hand only. The production models are tip-up with reversible clips for left or right handed carry. I recently purchased a G10 Meadowlark, and it's a great knife for the money.

thanks for the info. It'd be great to hear a review of the meadowlark if you've got the time.

I just recieved my Cara Cara G10 in the mail yesterday. It has good fit and finish, much better than expected for a $22 knife. The only quibbles are a slightly uneven grind on one side and the handle fit being very slightly off in a couple spots, but they are hardly noticable and don't bother me at all. The lockup is very solid and tight. The G-10 is grippy, not quite as grippy as a Manix or Military, but still very grippy. The edge was sharp but had a hint of a burr (it would shave great on one side but not nearly as well on the other), but a few light passes on the Sharpmaker at 40 degrees and it will shave and push cut newsprint with ease. I look forward to testing edge retention on this steel. I read that it is similar to AUS 8, and I'm hoping it is better than my AUS 8 CRKT's (my other beaters), considering it is run significantly harder. The bottom line is it is a great value.

Hello Spydies (or should it be Byrdies?),

My two G-10 Cara Cara's arrived today. Big knife, but the sound when it locks up is even bigger.

Sal - you've done great not only with this knife, but with the thought of giving us an affordable user & collectable. I'm now up to 31 Byrds and look forward to others joining my various Spydies.

Cheers - Joe :) :) :) :)

I just ordered the Cara Cara G10. I have been waiting for this one. Is
the clip shiny or black?
