A good source for free carbide bits to use in a Dremel or Foredom tool is your dentist. They throw them out as the bits dull. There is still a lot of life in the bits for grinding wood, horn, and metal. The bits require a 1/16” collet to hold them.
 
Just make sure that he has sterilized them first. You run the risk of picking up something incurable otherwise.:eek:
 
Friends and I have been using the bits for many years. No problems yet. A person could always boil the bits if they were worried.
 
I also use dental bits in my 200,000 rpm paragrave drill. They sure do fine grinding and carving.
