Carbide deposition on cutting edge?

Does anyone here have any experience doing carbide deposition on a Ti knife? I'm talking cutting edge, not covering the whole blade. I'm interested in the pros and cons.

Gene you may want to try to contact George Lambert...I believe he uses the procesess for his knives, if not, he may know who does. -Matt-

Carbidizing. Warren Thomas was the first I know of to do it. The carbide is kinda arc-welded onto the TI edge in a thin layer.

Somewhere I have a paring knife which has carbide deposited on one side of the edge of cheap stainless steel.Kind of self sharpening but you can't get a really sharp edge.On the other hand it would cut anything !!
