I need to drill a few holes in some hardened D-2. Does anyone have a favorite supplier of carbide bits? I'll only be using it for three holes (for now, anyway), so cost is a consideration.

Thanks,
Todd

A masonry bit should do it. It will be a lot cheaper that a carbide spade bit, the only problem might be if it's available in the size you want.

Check with local industrial supply shops,or order it fron K&G or Koval,etc..A better choice is to go to a machine shop.Go to a small one man shop, not a big company. They may well do it for you for free.Take a couple of finished knives to show, they love to look at finished metal work.Might even work out a trade deal on drilling, shearing, sawing, etc.
