I finally went and ordered some solid carbide drill bits. I got straight 2 flute. This was kind of a guess from the descriptions. For future reference, what is the recomended style for these bits? I'm useing them in a drill press. Thanks

Wayne, are you planning on drilling hardened steel, if so use the fluted hi-roc drills, if the ones you got look like standard twist drills they won,t drill hardened steel. The hi-roc are very brittle and break easy so take care ...

The two flute are what you want. I only use twist drills for soft stuff like handle materials. Use the slowest speed setting you have, use lots of fliud and keep a steady feed rate. They will last a good long time. Hard or soft steel those will drill whatever you need.

Be sure and wear your eye protection because when they do break they tend to shatter.

I have used both and find they both work well if you take care to clear the flutes and go slowly when breaking through the back side of the blade.
