Carbide Edge?

How do you (or what kind of place will do it for you) get a carbide edge on a ti blade? TIA :)

Besides the extreme cost of having a piece of tungsten custom ground to a knife edge, the first time the blade flexed 5 degrees the edge would crack (I assuming you want tungsten carbide). That would be a big dollar project.

Travers has a "carbidizer" for coating cutting edges of high wear surfaces with Tungsten Carbide. www.travers.com

Their pn. 57-101-000. There might be some other do it your self coating devices out there or services for the machine tooling guys.

Does it work??

dont know about that, but I grind carbide for a living, it is about as brittle as glass!

how about individual TC 'teeth' imbedded in a composite blade? it'll basically be a tough stippled edge but keeping the teeth aligned after heavy use is gonna be a major engineering problem. but hey, sharks can do it!
