I don't currently own any Emerson's I am considering trading a carbon fiber harpy, in like new condition for a G-10 Emerson with carbide titanium blade. What is the approximate retail value of this knife and if there is only one model. My understanding is correct, it is not a strip of carbide running to the center. The carbide crystals embedded into the edge surface. If this is so I have two questions. One over time granted a long time. Will these crystals wear away second these crystals create an edge that is good for drag cuts but not so good or bad for push cuts. Especially for things like wood shaving. I am also interested to know any further description of this knife especially whether has a wave or not. I am not a big wave fan sorry. I ripped my pants the one time I tried it.

i know the knife ya are talking about they are pretty uncommon imho.

they certainly are not waved, none of the BM '7s are.

IIRC the way ya descrbe the edge is correct, and IIRC at least one person carries one for edc so they must wear at least ok.

email me and i'll send ya a link to the emerson collectors forum (not the EKI forum) and i'm sure they would know.

sounds like the knife you are talking about is the benchmade 970st. i believe fewer than 5000 were made and they retailed for around 250. i have read they were created for the military as a mine checking tool. mine has a decent factory edge and has never been used. i have a friend who used one as an edc and had to send it back to benchmade for sharpening and it never really held a good edge as it wasn't really designed as a cutter.
