Does anyone have any experience with Carbinox T508 steel? There's a few knives I've seen that use it, and I'm interested in how well it performs compared to some of the premium steels used today.

Links? Never heard of the stuff.

Looks like a stainless steel, doesn't seem like anything too particularly special, maybe similar to a 440 steel.

Perhaps it's like 12C27M - .52C, .4 Si, .6Mn, 14.5Cr . Not much of a steel !

Marttiini also uses it and costs more than their regular steels. It has a high chormium content, making it more rust resistant. I gather it's only moderately hard as it's supposed to be easy to sharpen.

Have you ever tried 12C27 stainless or 12C27M (modified) stainless?? In my honest opinion, this steel (12C27) is FAR better than such steel as S30V. It has plenty enough carbon to hold a screaming sharp edge, and easily takes a sharpening, unlike S30V, which calls for the diamond stones. I love the 12C27 series, and can't imagine what makes you dislike it so, which is why I asked, how much experience have you had with it? Now, I think the 12C27 original is better, if only for having the perfect amount of carbon and less chrome, which promotes super-fine grain and it's famous sharpness. I'm a hard-core carbon lover, but 12C27 really comes closer to a good carbon (it IS Swedish steel after all!) than anything else, and gives any good carbon a run for it's money! I'd love to try Marttiini's Carbinox!
