Carbon Blade Cleaning

If they are shiny, i.e. no coating or bead blasting, Flitz polish is the best. For parkerized and coated blades Break Free CLP works great. If you are looking for something to clean and protect on a regular basis, try Sentry Solutions Tuf Cloth.

metalglo works for me. similiar to flitz.when i use some of my carbon blades in the kitchen [1084, 01], i noticed a nice bluish petina forming when i cut up chicken, slice pickles, etc... . i even starting playing around to see what colors i could come up with!i have a small 1084 blade in my link of pics below that i dropped in a jar of pickle juice[vinegar]to get a pretty blue-brown petina. after i got tired of it, metalglo cleaned it up.it has been cleaned in the pic.actually, the petina is somewhat of a protective coating, or finish!hope this helps.

Some years ago I bought a tin (9 ounces - a lifetime supply) of 'Tarnite', which is excellent at removing oxidation.

I'm sure there are other brands. The main ingredient to look for is oxalic acid, which chemically removes oxides.

The best thing about these oxide-removers is that they require no metal-removal physical action that might scratch blades.
