I have a set for my 1911, and I thought they would look cool. I was wrong. I think they look like plastic, and cheapen the look of my guns.

Just my opinion of course! I'm glad you like them. Anything that makes you like your own gun more is a good thing.
 
I think the appearance is going to depend on the source or manufacturer. Some carbon fiber is done very well, and reinforces the high-tech looks of the material. Others look like cheap slabs that came off of a low-dollar BB gun. CF is weird that way. If it's properly laid-up and finished, it's cool. I've seen some, however, that could only be called "carbon fiber" only because some of the reinforcing material shot into an injection mold is fiber.

These grips look like the nicer higher-end types. Pretty cool. :)


I know what you mean, though, Shane. Cheap grips can be repulsive and actually insulting to a firearm. I've been putzing with slabs of G-10 for some grip projects for my Gov't Model, and some have turned out really crappy.
