Carbon Fiber blemish

Can you fix slight a blemish in carbon fiber? I am not considering returning or doing anything warranty wise with it most likely, just curious if anyone has had a similar problem and fixed it. It is on a brand new Sage (the first knife I received from Taiwan that was not opened and inspected by Colorado ironically) and you cannot feel it but can see it. I will try and see if pictures can capture it, it is hard to see at certain angles. Everything else is perfect with the knife and it is going to be a user, so if it stays this way I do not care much, just do not know a whole lot about carbon fiber and what you can do to it.

Can you describe it beyond saying it's a blemish? Saying there's a blemish doesn't really let anyone know what you're talking about, and that's needed to say whether it's fixable :)

I will try, pictures will help. It kind of looks like someone took an ink pen and dug grooves into it (not a ink mark just trying to describe the width) but again you cannot really feel it. The main mark is about an inch long with another piece coming off it. I was hoping to find out in general if you can do anything to carbon fiber, or will it make it worse.

Fill the void with resin and sand it flush. CF will sometimes have occlusions. This is common with wood, that's why handle material is stabilized by impregnating it with resin to fill those voids.

I'm really surprised, because my Spydies from Taiwan have much better F&F than from Golden. It just looks like a bad egg sneaked in from the Taiwan QC.

Thanks gooeytek, that is what I was hoping for, I might try it out.

redfeenix, I have many from Taiwan and this is the first that was not perfect. Like I said it was also the only knife I have received un-opened, as they are opened and inspected in Golden as I understand it. Not a big deal, more interested in carbon fiber and how it behaves and whether or not I can fix it it.

Should've come in a sealed bag. I don't know what at what step they put them in the bag and close it but that's how my Spyderco from Taiwan have come if they were new.

Did you buy it from a local shop or online, the shop I visit always opens the knives to inspect them and make sure there in good condition and to allow customers to inspect and compare samples. If that the case my bet is that it got accidentally damaged by an employee and you might be able to exchange it. Otherwise hopefully there's a DIY fix for it.

I got it online. I think it was on another thread here some guy was real upset because his was not sealed but cut open, and if memory serves it was explained to him that Spyderco employees in Golden do a lot of random inspections on knives from overseas (in his case it was Taiwan also I believe). They unseal it and inspect. This is all going from memory right now, I could also be confused and maybe it was a dealer who opened to check it out. Doesn't matter, I only mentioned that because I found it ironic as the way I understood, my only non-perfect knife from Taiwan was also the only one not inspected. I see what you mean rycen, maybe they come in to Golden w/out bags and get inspected while Golden employees bag and seal them.
