Where does one find a block of carbon fiber that i could use for grip material?
For a hunter type hidden tang knife, block has to measure at least 25mm thick

Thx

I don't use much but what I've used I got from AJ Composites or KS Carbon through Instagram.

alpha knife supply

there are a bunch more but i dont think many of them are vendors here. id PM you but you are not a paying member with that feature..

other than that, all i can say is try and avoid VOIDS in the carbon fiber. low void or no void carbon fiber is what you want. most home made CF will have voids. some more than others. voids are ugly and a point of weakness.

And they usually appear where you do not want them . . . . :)

agreed.

one way i hear to mitigate voids is to mix carbon fiber dust with super glue (or certain types of epoxy) and put that into the voids and polish it. not idea, but some cf you have no choice but to do this. it doesnt help with the structure/weakness of the cf (because of all the voids in the layers that you cannot see), but it may make it look a little nicer on the outside. again, id avoid building anything with lots of voids. Low void carbon fiber is going to have some voids but... its not going to be too bad tho.

The black rubberized CA glue is perfect for filling voids and cracks in CF, as well as black and dark woods. It is a just about a requirement for doing buckeye burl handles.
