How durable are carbon fiber bolsters for regular use compared to, say, titanium? If I am looking to have a custom knife made that will see regular if fairly light use which I'd like to pass along to my son will CF bolsters stand the test of time?
Rye,
CF is pretty tough stuff. It can scratch or gouge if something hard or metal impacts it with some force or is ground against it, similar to G10 or wood. But with typical hand use I would suspect it would be in good shape for a great grandson with moderate care.
Eric
not a big fan personally, I really like titanium though. Just generally, not much folder experience here, but I deal with high tech materials quite often in my work.
Love titanium!
