Carbon Fiber Checkering Question

Hi,

I saw these pistol grips at http://www.carboncreations.com and thought knife handles made out of them would be interesting. Does anybody have any experience with checkering carbon fiber or the kevlar/carbon fiber blend. Also, the nickel color handles seemed interesting. Anyone ever seen this color or have a picture of nickel colored carbon fiber/kevlar. Thanks in advance.

The checkering comes from the fabric used. I have seen some nickeled glass and carbon fiber fabrics also fabrics from nickel fiber. The look is just that, no functionality, Might be sexy to some, seen it everywhere. Carbon fiber is not a very good reinforcing for handles etc. it causes galvanic corrosion easily if not properly made.
