Mods please move this if you feel it necessary or redundant.

Hi all, I have a textured CF scale incoming for my XM-18. I have noticed several members who post pics of their XMs with CF have either a smooth CF scale or Frag CF scale. I see very few with the textured scale. I am wondering why that is? Is it a supply issue? (more smooth and frag have been produced) or is it an aesthetic issue? Personally, I love the texture on the standard G10 and the look of CF so I thought a textured CF scale would be the best of both worlds. I am just puzzled as to why I don't see much of it on the other member's knives. What do you think?

I've got Hinderer textured carbon fiber in my pocket right now!

It's the scale that was originally on this 3.5, but I changed it early on...now it's back.

I have not looked to purchase any so I cannot speak to availability. But do know many customs come with carbon fiber either smooth or textured.

I like them a lot too, and have them installed on my XM18 and my XM24. They just look nicer/more interesting plain black scales.
I have no idea if textured CF scales are more rare than smooth ones. Seems to me like CF scales are pretty hard to find in general.

Textured carbon fiber scales aren't real common, smooth is more frequently seen but both are less common than G10 as carbon fiber is more typically found on the customs and the carbon fiber scales aren't frequently available for purchase.

I'm rather partial to carbon fiber.

The textured CF makes a great and unique scale but the smooth just pips it in looks IMO.

Jay,

Those are some great pics of the various CF options! Thanks for posting. I agree, the smooth does look a little nicer but the other two sure are nice too.

Strangely, I had the smooth CF and did not connect with it. Traded it straight up for a textured CF one. Love the look now. But that frag pattern is starting to call to me...
