I got a XM-18 3" with Ti scales and a extra scale. How can I tell if it is G-10 or Carbon Fiber. Thanks for helping again :)

What little help this may be but, as I look (longingly) at the Hinderer Photo thread, I see what looks to noticeable differences between scales (mostly when I compare Black ones) the CF looks "richer", if that is a descriptive term that speaks to you, than the G10.
The G10 looks duller and a little less dimensional.

Thanks I will go look at the thread and see what I can see. I think I know what you mean.

I could be wrong but in Post #16 in the thread (by Rob) it seems to me there are two(2) Black XM's seems like they might be examples.

Thanks. I looked at them and the 2nd picture seems to be a smooth cf. The 4th picture is that G-10 or textured CF? I have a smooth CF on my 3.5" and it is easy to tell, it is the textured I am having trouble with. I want to sell one of the 3" and want to be sure I list the scales correctly. Thanks again for you help.

You can usually see the carbon fiber weave in the thumb cutout for the lockbar.
