carbon fiber ordering question!

hi gents,i would like to order some carbon fiber to make up some scales,my question is what weave or pattern should i be looking for!twill or weave pattern,i really like the scales on my caly 3/ZDP189 and would like to match that size carbon fiber if i can!i have never ordered CF so the checkered board pattern throws me!when they say its .145 what are they saying!the size of the checks inside the pattern,sorry for this dumb question!but needing some help hear,lots of thanks.

I don't know but have some good lung protection when you saw it up. The fibers get in your skin . . . nasty stuff.

.145 would be the thickness
