Carbon Fiber Scale customization

I bought some CF scale blanks. What is the best wayy to cut, shave and polish CF?

Not sure about the technique, but wear long sleeves and a respirator.

Or, alternatively (or in addition, I don't guarantee that it's sufficient safety-wise) sand it underwater.
