Carbon Fiber Scales

Nice work!
I've sold several of my Tanto Neck Knives with Torx screw assembly. This allows their owners to make new and change handle materials. With the screws, no pinning or glueing is involved.
Be carefull around the carbon fiber dust. We had a safety meeting at work a while back. There was a guest speeker from a dust filter company. He showed us that the particles that get through the dust collector bags or masks is what can KILL you!!

If a man can keep alert and imaginative, an error is a possibility, a chance at something new; to him, wandering and wondering are a part of the same process. He is most mistaken, most in error, whenever he quits exploring.

Everyone should take note that Carver also sells carbon fiber. Very reasonable as a matter of fact. I ordered some from him, and got it in less than a week. The Texan on my Gallery 1 of my website ( www.griffithknives.com )has some Carbon Fiber that I got from him. I contoured it instead of leaving the top flat. Makes for a very different look.

Carver; sensational looking knives. There is no denying the visual appeal of c-fiber. Haven't you found, though, that it is rather slippery when wet?

Walt

Walt,
Concerning cf being slippery when wet,it seems it depends on how the scales are finished. On my WOO,I sanded the scales with 400 grit paper and coated them with paste wax to bring out the grain a bit. This resulted in a matte finish that matches the WOO better then a high gloss finish would have.I never used it in a wet environment,so I wet my hands and did a little whittleing on a stick in the yard. The knife actually seemed to stick better. For comparison purposes,I repeated the process with my Pioneer that has polished G-10 scales. The Pioneer felt slicker in my hand then the WOO had. Also,I could improve the grip on the WOO by doing some contouring, like Lynn has done to his cf Texan.
