Carbon Fiber Scraps

I am making a small knife from the free talonite sample I got on the forums from tomwalz. I am thinking of like a small fixed blade that I can attach to my keychain with a concealex sheath. I want to put some carbon fiber scales onto it, but don't have any carbon fiber. Money is a little tight right now, as I am working on another project and just spent most of my money on that. I don't want to order a full piece if I can avoid it. I really need just some scrap size pieces, so thought it would be worth a shot to see if anyone here had any. What I need is two pieces about 2x2 or even about 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 would proably just make do. If you have anything like this let me know, and maybe we can work something out. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I will see if I have any left I doubt I have any scraps that small, but I don't really like using the stuff, so If I have some it is yours. How big of a piece of talonite did you get, my peice was just under 1"x2" The handle portion of my blade is barely an inch. I acutally really liked working with the talonite, It is really nice that it doesn't need any heat treatment. You will need carbide bits to drill it though. It grinds pretty nicely, and it doesn't seem to build up heat as quickly as steel does.

Kyle,

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. The piece I got was just a bit bigger than 1"x2". This is going to be the first usable knife I actually made 100% on my own. I have done a few kits, and some grinding on mild steel before. You are right about the carbide bits, I bought one to drill out my pin holes, and it broke just as it finished the last hole:mad: . Thanks again.

The stuff I have is promised to someone else but I'm sure they would'nt mind a couple of scrapps going to someone. I sent you an e-mail at the address in your profile.
