I was at a knife site today and it had a Spyderco that usually has G-10 Slabs with Carbon Fiber slabs and the price was about $60.00 Bucks more so what is the deal with Carbon fiber Slabs?

If it's the Military model, it's a special version (low numbered run) and uses a special "peel-ply" (textured like G10) carbon fiber. That might help to explain the large price difference. Worth every penny, from what I have heard and read!

What is peel ply and to go further what is the advantage of these slabs? are for better looks or performance or both?

Do they put like a better blade finish on them or are you paying the extra money just for the slabs looking a little better?

I believe, from what I've read, that the carbon fiber is textured to feel (grippy) like G10, yet be stronger, as carbon fiber is stronger than G10. In my opinion, peel-ply carbon fiber is not nearly as eye pleasing as regularly textured, slick carbon fiber. I believe the price difference exists due to the low numbers produced of this model.

Carbon fiber just costs more now than G-10. Remember how much more G-10 cost when it just started to get popular?
Carbon fiber cost will go down soon after the "new best handle material" pops up.

I'd like to confirm this. Since I got my CF Millie, all the other knives had to withdraw in their boxes. By far the best knife I ever had. Perfect? Of course not (it's a linerlock after all), but sooo close ;)
As for the CF, it is indeed textured like the G-10 (well, similar). Still has a checkered pattern that looks cool :)

Have found that the CF scales scratch easily? That is the usual problem with CF. While it is strong it isn't particularly hard like G-10. I wonder what has been don to harden it.

Here are some photos of my G-10 and CF Milis. I LOVE the CF :D
