Here's the Carbon Fiber Trio:
From left-to-right: Native 4 carbon-fiber, Native 5 with custom carbon-fiber scales from Barry H, Sage 1
Barry does some pretty awesome work I must say. I didn't even notice until I got this knife that there are no pocket-clip holes anywhere but on the right-hand/tip-up side (which is what I prefer). It makes for a very clean look. There is not a flaw in his workmanship anywhere on them. I can see the subtle differences in the Native 4 and 5 by comparing the two - it's pretty cool. I took the scales off of the 4 (it has no outside exposed jimping when closed, so it's a slip-into-the-pocket gentleman's knife). The Native 5 is hard for me to treat like a pretty knife (despite the beautiful scales) since it's Back-lock/spacer are thicker, it's got the bushing, and very nice jimping. The blade-stock is thicker as well. Still I love the Native 4 right along side it (My Sage 2 might start to feel neglected as my go-to dress-up knife).
I'm quickly figuring out that the Native is my second-favorite knife that Spyderco makes (with the Para being first). CF Stretch should be here next week, so I'll have that (and an example of peel-ply CF to compare these to).
Enjoy:
