Here's the Carbon Fiber Trio:

From left-to-right: Native 4 carbon-fiber, Native 5 with custom carbon-fiber scales from Barry H, Sage 1

Barry does some pretty awesome work I must say. I didn't even notice until I got this knife that there are no pocket-clip holes anywhere but on the right-hand/tip-up side (which is what I prefer). It makes for a very clean look. There is not a flaw in his workmanship anywhere on them. I can see the subtle differences in the Native 4 and 5 by comparing the two - it's pretty cool. I took the scales off of the 4 (it has no outside exposed jimping when closed, so it's a slip-into-the-pocket gentleman's knife). The Native 5 is hard for me to treat like a pretty knife (despite the beautiful scales) since it's Back-lock/spacer are thicker, it's got the bushing, and very nice jimping. The blade-stock is thicker as well. Still I love the Native 4 right along side it (My Sage 2 might start to feel neglected as my go-to dress-up knife).

I'm quickly figuring out that the Native is my second-favorite knife that Spyderco makes (with the Para being first). CF Stretch should be here next week, so I'll have that (and an example of peel-ply CF to compare these to).

Enjoy:

Great looking knives, and thanks for the pics.

I've been holding off on the Native because I like the wire clip of the Sage. I wear mostly polortec fleece pants in the winter, and the wire clip and slick CF slides right on the pocket. I keep a CF BG42 Military in my jacket when outside. The Sage1 will soon be put away untill next winter. I'll be back to jeans and will be glad to get back to my other Spyderco's, and Sebenza's.

OK - who is Barry H and how much does he charge for those custom scales? I like.

He's a member here (that's his Screen name - Barry H ). You can PM or email him (I'd rather not speak for him).

I'm digging both of these smooth carbon-fiber knives though. I'll have pics up of the Stretch as soon as it gets here - then it will be a Quartet :) ).

Nice trio. Another gentleman Spyderco carbon fiber folder that I really like is the Michael Walker. Its like a shrunken down version of the Native 4 but with a liner lock and ZDP-189 steel.

Where is the Caly 3 with ZDP?

I think it's on its way right after I pick up a Chaparral. I had a Caly 3 and got rid of it due to a couple of gripes (pinned construction, no washers/scratched up tang, shallow choil, super-high jimped-thumb-ramp=snags in pocket, etc.), but I'm starting to miss it again so I may have to give it another chance (and I may have a local knife-tinkerer drill out the pins, and add some washers).
