Hi all. I am interested in finding some 3/8" carbon fiber scales. The thickest I have seen are 1/4". Does anyone have a source for some of this thicker material? Also, if anyone is willing to part with some personally, I would be more than willing to make it worth their while. Thanks.

I don't know BUT I sure would like to know where you found 1/4 inch thick. The thickest I have found is only 1/8th. Can you please tell me a source for 1/4? Thanks.

Roger,

Halpern Titanium has .220 stuff, a little under 1/4" but that is the thickest I have seen.

I found some at Alpha Knife Supply. No scales, but plenty of thick stuff. I just don't need that much and it is quite pricey.

Jamie,
I've bonded a ton of it together with Locktite black toughened superglue. 410 or 380, they keep changing the number. Plenty of work time with it.

Jamie, thanks a bunch for that. I checked them out. Sure wish they showed type 10 in stock. The Halpern Titanium might be the ticket for what I need.

Thanks Kit, something to think about. Might just bite the bullet and pick some up from Alpha. I'll most probably use it someday.

No problem Roger. Nice selection, heh?

I second asking at Halpern. It pays to call or drop an email about what you're looking for, too, as I've bought stuff from them they don't show on the website, so you never know what they're hiding in back!

Type 10 was availible in .090 only. I wish I could get more. :(

Type 6 was interesting to cut. The carbide teeth on the table saw blade kept coming off! Another knifemaker said it might contain boron. It is the toughest CF I've ever cut.

What does a 12" X 12" X 1/4" sheet go for??? The job that I start on Monday makes it and maybe I can talk him into doing some up.
