Carbon fibre delica as a slightly heavier use folder ?

About to purchase a CF Delica for an EDC knife and being unfamiliar with Carbon fibre as a material I was curious as to its benifits.

Would carbon fibre make a Delica suitable as a heavier use folder in comparison to the lightweight model, i.e. does it make the knife structurally stronger or does it just sure up the design.

Any input much appreciated.

Cheers

FWIW, for quite a few years I raced radio controlled 1/10th scale cars. Their chassis' and structural components were made of carbon fiber and were able to withstand extreme crashes in excess of 30mph. That might not sound very fast, but, the cars weighed less than three pounds. CF was used for it's stiffness and light weight. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use a knife with cf scales. CF looks good and can stand up to a beating.

But that's just my opinion.

I just got one of these and it is very thin but also very stiff. None of the flex inherent in the zytel or even G-10 handles. I think it is structurally much stronger. The blade and tip remain quite thin, so I wouldn't pry with it. But for it's size it is a very strong little knife. Go for it. I love mine.

Cheers guys,

Advice much appreciated.

LAG3:

Do you perchance have both the CF and the zytel and also happen to have a digicamera :D ? is their any chance you could take a spine / front of pic showing just how thing the handles are ?

It'd be very well recieved (or if anyone else happens to have both and a camera).

The Carbon Fiber Delica II is about 1/4" thick, not counting the clip. Very thin. Got rid of my blue Delica (regret), so don't have an FRN model to measure for you. I think you'll be very pleased with this little knife. My biggest complaint has always been that when makers downsize their knives they seem to become wimpy little gent's knives. The CF Delica is a very strong little knife. No blade wobble in any direction. Locks up with an authoratative 'snap'! You won't be disappointed.
