Carbon Fibre resilience?..

I have just received my Carbon Fibre Delica, plain edge, right hand, number 285, from New Graham Knives. A great little knife - and only $5.95 shipping to Jersey, British Isles! I notice that the blade is slightly smaller than that of my ATS55 FRN Delica.
CF users - how resilient is Carbon Fibre to scratches and knocks?

That's a good shipping price!

CF is tough stuff and should withstand pretty much any knock, but the 'wet-look' finish that Spyderco uses (if I assume the CF Delica uses the same finish as the CF Cricket I own), is extremely prone to scratches. :(

I would much prefer a matt finish on CF, like the finish William Henry use. Just my personal view.

I just got one of these from New Graham myself. My first impression was I couldn't believe how thin it is. But it is very solid due to the carbon fiber and single steel liner. It is really growing on me as an EDC in the office. I also have the Carbon Fiber Police. I also like a matte finish better, but they are really nice knives. For me, it's like any other knife I have bought. The first few scratches are the worst, then you forget about it and just use it. I don't think there's a way to avoid it getting scratched. Let me know how you like it. Thanks!

I picked one up a couple weeks ago and have carried it every day and it still doesn't show any sign of wear or scuffs etc. I was very pleased with how thin/light and yet very solid this knife is.

When I first received mine (#38) I wondered about how thin it was. I was wishing for a second liner. I will carry it for a while and see how it goes. Really like the looks though . . . :D

You really don't need any liner with CF it's that strong, the only reason it has any liner is because of the lock most likely.

Isn't it there to hold the pocket clip? I don't know cause I don't have one yet but that seems to be the reason in other models.

Yes the screws thread into the liner. This gives them something to "bite" on. The knife seems very sturdy however I will have to carry it for a while to see how I interface with this thin slicer :D

How is everyone enjoying their CF Delicas?

Yes the liner is there to anchor the clip screws so as not to strip out the carbon fiber. I really like this little knife. It's very sturdy. I was never a big fan of the look of carbon fiber, but it really is much stiffer than FRN or G-10. The whole handle (both slabs of carbon fiber and the liner is only 1/4" thick). And, there is no flex in the handle. That's impressive to me. I have had many "gent's" knives in my quest to find a pocket knife for work. The CF Delica fits the bill better than most. The lock up is rock solid with no blade play in any direction. This combined with the stiffness of the handle gives it a better "feel" as a real tool rather than something to just clean your nails with. Nice knife.

The shiniy CF can easily be matted, or will even in time, with scratches end up somewhat matted. If we begin with a matt finish, it can never be shiny, which some prefer. Matt finish is cheaper and can always be done to your shiny CF handle.

The liner is there for the clip screws. CF is quite strong and stiff (more so than the liner). No strength problem with CF.
