Hey guys,
I'm wondering if you could recommend an edc pocket knife for me.
Requirements:
clip on side (essential)
Carbon steel (essential)
Full height convex grind (non essential, I can convex it myself if I have to)
Price range: under $60.00
Got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

opinel and add a clip yourself? For some reason, I just can't think on any carbon steel folers atm. Shouldn't be too hard, you make them nice Turley Customs after all :)

I think the Svord peasant knife (check out ragweed forge) might be the closest you can come. Carbon blade in either wood or plastic handle, and you could add your own clip because of the flat scales.

Why is carbon steel an essential item for you? Is there a particular quality in carbon that appeals to you, or is it more of a nostalgia thing? There are some very nice stainless steels that perform quite similarly to carbon in terms of edge holding, ease of sharpening, edge retention, and toughness. They won't take on a patina, but they will perform.

Some of the fine grained powder steels like VG10 or the swedish steels may be what you want in a stainless that will be somewhat similar to carbon.

Case Mid-lock hunter comes in CV, has a pocket clip. Also the Moore Maker Roper series is 1095.

Zahng,
I thought about the opinel but hadn't thought about adding a clip. I'm sure it could be done somehow.

Sig,
Mostly about nostalgia and bull headedness. :D I'm not a fan of ss at all but I'm sure there are good ones out there no doubt.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Edited to say: Those little peasant knives are pretty niffty. I might try my hand at making one similar to use.
Thanks again
