Carbon Steel Folding Hunter?

Are there any production lockbacks similar to a Buck 110 or Schrade LB7 made from carbon steel, e.g., 1095? I've owned an LB7 since the 80s but would like something in carbon steel.

Thanks.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Queen #3L in 1095 in Crimson and Rootbeer bone and Stag.

I was going to suggest that, since I've got one on order, but it's not a lockback, it's a liner lock. Don't know if that matters to the OP, but it takes it out of the "similar to a Buck 110" vein to me...

TLC beat me to it. I used a #3L crimson in 1095 for one whole season. Great knife. Took and held a razor edge. There tends to be a little lateral (I think it's 'lateral' at any rate) blade play.

I just covered the bolsters with a terry cloth, and a few light raps with a rubber dead blow mallet, and sha-bang! Blade play gone. Not all of the Queen MM have this problem however.

Great knife IMO:thumbup:

Thanks all, this has given me something to look at.

It does matter. I really dislike liner locks. Thanks for pointing it out.

Gee Dave, don't I get some credit for even knowing about and suggesting a locking knife?

*smirk*.

Dave and I know each other and he knows I do not even own a locking knife of any type.
He is also aware of my other ...err...traditional hard-headed ways.

One of these days... Dave is going to try a Barehead Slimline Trapper , with yellow handles and CV blades...and thank me. *grin*
In the mean time...

Oh Dave.... How's your Southern drawl coming along?

I have a Schrade 125OT for skinning. You can get on schradebay for cheap - make sure it's original. This one is from ebay

Sorry buddy, I was in a hurry when I posted my earlier reply.

You? Hard headed? Nah..... :D

I've been looking at Case Trappers in red, actually. Want to match my Case Moose.

In the mean time...

Oh Dave.... How's your Southern drawl coming along?

Ah wuz born South uh the Mason-Dixon in Bawlmore befuh ah moved North. Ah can fake it.

Me likey.

Moore Maker MM - I love the look. Ordered the rootbeer. Lateral blade play was a deal breaker. Maybe I could have fixed it. I got a 110fg and love it. I also find I like the sodbuster as a big folder, though it doesn't lock.

Ya know, since you do have them wonderfullest kids...I'd get their input.

I have no idea where the wonderfullest kids got the idea they should get a knife too for a consultation fee.

Give the kids a hug for me...

Weidmannsheil make a carbon lockback single blade with green delrin scales. About 4.25" closed, inexpensive and sharp.Tough worker. Too big for pocket carry but OK in a sheath.

I've been wanting one of those Queen mountain Man knives in 1095 but any blade play would drive me nuts.
And this is not the first thread that has mentioned the blade play problem.
If there was a store nearby where i could paw multiples i would just pick the tightest one and buy it.
But the nearest store like that is thousands of miles away (i'm in Atlantic Canada).
Does anyone here know any mailorder/online stores that would hand pick a wobble/play free knife for a customer?
Even a small charge for this service would be acceptable.

Or barring that does anyone know any knife stores in British Columbia or Washington state that stock Queen knives?
I may be moving to Vancouver BC sometime next year and a jaunt across the border could be easily done.
:)

I got lucky with my carved stag bone Mountain Man. Locks up like a vault with no play whatever. (However, that is a D2 version.)

The MooreMakers are actually Queens right?
Hmmm according to that website MooreMaker makes a machete and an ax as well.
