About 20 years ago I picked up a used Schrade LB7 in a pawn shop in New Mexico (long story) and have happily used it ever since as my preferred camping knife. It has the much older style full double sewn rectangular leather sheath. While it is still in great shape I've been concerned about picking up a backup, since Schrade is no longer producing. Got a Buzzsaw trapper on e-bay, and though it has nice features, I'm not as impressed with the construction quality and durability. There are a lot of LB-7 on e-bay as well, but most listed as being "Uncle Henry" models. Does this mean that they come with stainless steel blades only? I much prefer a carbon steel blade.

Looking for some help from the experts, thanks...

The LB7 -- "Bear Paw" was an 'Uncle Henry' model, and therefore all will have stainless (Schrade+) blades. The Old Tiimer version is the 7OT-- "Cave Bear", and only from 1991 to 1995 did these have carbon steel blades. If you are looking for one on ebay, you will have to ask the seller if the blade tang reads 'Schrade+'.

The sheath number I cannot explain. Lots and lots of knives end up in perfectly fitting, but 'wrong' (not factory issue) sheaths.

Let's see what the other guys have to say here.

Thanks for the info. Didn't know that the Schrade+ on my blade indicated stainless. Wrongly assumed that since it was magnetic and a little pitted that it was Carbon Steel. Thanks again, now I can happly use SS schrades as the blade quality and sharpenablity work well for me.
