I hope this question doesn't seem too silly for you guys, but I'm new to knives, and I'm still learning about the subject. Anyway, here goes...have any of you ever heard of anyone protecting their carbon blades with anything like Johnsons Paste Wax?

Cayce

I've heard of it. Never tried it.
I use a drop of "mineral Oil", the kind that is sold in pharmacies as a laxative.

I use Renaissance Wax for my carbon blades when in storage.

Wax is used by some, mostly when knives are in long term storage and are not handled much.

Silicon is another product used by collectors, AG Russell makes a good one.

But I think most user's go with an Oil like Mineral Oil if we use anything at all.

Truth is that I do very little to my carbon steel blades,

...I just use them, and clean and dry them after use,

...they develop a patina over time and that's fine by me.
