carbon steel patina

Hi everyone, first of all, I love this forum and have gained a countless amount of knowledge and information here!! Second of all, I am sure that this question I am about to ask is already answered somewhere out here, but FU and your pretentious responses, I am asking it again so if you don't want to respond, DONT

So, I have a NIB old school Cold Steel Carbon Master Hunter as well as a few other high carbon steel blade knives. I know that these blades are extremely prone to rust when exposed to moisture. In general, I take very good care of my blades, I use them, sharpen them, keep them lubed, etc (plus house them in awesome high quality sheaths from God Speed Tactical and Grizzly Outdoors...both are awesome kydex sheath makers BTW)

My question is, can someone please provide me their thoughts and advice on the best way to force a patina, aka effectively coat and protect my carbon blades? I am not looking for an intense blacksmith solution, but would love an effective every-day-man approach to protecting my carbon steel blades.

I love you all and thank you very much!
