Does vintage schrade knife steel rust If it's not carbon steel? I want another carbon steel schrade and am wondering if non carbon steel ones rust.

ALL steel rusts, but Schrade+ is stainLESS, so it won't develop any easily. The Uncle Henry I had was very easy to sharpen, and held a really good edge so I somewhat prefer Schrade stainless over Schrade carbon.

I have a Schrade-made Buck which is assuredly stainless, so they definitely used it back in the day...

Pretty much what Connnor said. "Schrade +" was 440A with a good heat treat up till the late 90's.

Not sure what you mean by "vintage".

You might ask on the Schrade Collector forum how early Schrade started using stainless. I remember getting a small Schrade stockman for my birthday in 1964. It was stainless.
