Noticed these (3) already sold on the bay in May and June. They do Not have the Sheffield Point. They do have the appropriate handle for the Bush Ranger.

Sold May 3rd -
Cold Steel Carbon V Bush Ranger Fixed Blade Knife & Leather Sheath Vtg Bowie

Sold May 24th -
USED Cold Steel USA Made Bush Ranger Carbon V Fixed Blade Sheath Knife !

Sold June 17th -
Cold Steel Carbon V Bush Ranger Fixed Blade Knife Leather Sheath Bowie SHARP !!!

Did Cold Steel produce a Carbon V Bush Ranger without a Sheffield Point ?

At first I just assumed that someone had ground down the false edge (Sheffield Point), but then (3) different sellers. At least one of the knives seems to be the required 12.5" total length.

Wondering if someone has any information (maybe I need to be on the hunt for a previously unknown, at least to me, Cold Steel Bush Ranger ?).

Thank you

So Awesome Jlauffer - ask a question about a vintage knife and almost immediately get the Answer ! ! ! ! I can not believe I never noticed Cold Steel changed the blade shape !

I still think the 'regular' Sheffield Point looks so much better. And also the Sheffield Point is Very unique for Cold Steel.

Strange that Cold Steel changed to a standard clip design - could these be blades from another Cold Steel knife ? Maybe they just had some Bush Ranger handles left over and stuck some other blade with them ? ? ? ?

Well, reading the catalog - looks like Cold Steel just went with a different blade but didn't change the name, size, or model #.
" . . . while the extra curve at the tip provides plenty of “belly” for emergency field dressing and skinning."

Thank you for the info Jlauffer !

Actually, in my experience, the standard clip points are the most prevalent. I've seen far more of those than the Sheffield models. And the stainless Sheffields are the hardest to come by of all three.

I'll never understand why the Bush Ranger was so short-lived. What a great knife!

I've never seen one of the stainless ones with a box...very strange

I have one of the stainless versions, with a custom leather sheath that I bought at a gun show.

I never noticed that they changed the clip point on these until I saw this thread.

I was surprised when they discontinued it.

I always hoped that they would bring it back with more modern blade steels.

Maybe they will do an XL version of the recent Bush Ranger folder in the future.

High end blade steel on a Sheffield Point Bush Ranger - Fixed blade. I would be very pleased to give Cold Steel my money ! I still think the Carbon V version is the best looking and for me, the most desirable.

HAPPY 4TH ! ! ! ! !
