Just wanted to see what everyone thought about this idea.
Cardboard seriously dulls a knife in a heart beat could the same properties in a stiff cardboard box have the ability to put a edge on a knife???
Given that the knife is able to be sharpened and is not in terrible shape where it will not even cut hot butter. Has anyone tried this to see if it will make the edge better given that the angle is positioned right????

Let me know what ya think?

Stropping on cardboard is an old trick.
It won't work for actual sharpening.

The sharpened edge is about 0.5 microns thick, this is what the cardboard exerts its forces against. The edge you sharpen, even if it is a small microbevel, is about 100 microns wide, for a full bevel, it is about 1000 microns. Because of the massive difference in area of contact and resulting effect on pressure, cardboard can not abrade the sides of an edge nearly as effectively as it can the edge, which it blunts heavily by deformation rather than wear.
