Bob;
How about some Sifu guidelines: sharpening angles and recommendations?
Even though I know flicking a blade open is bad on the internal mechanism, is it equally true with the Sifu/Rolling Lock combo? Thumbing the lock open and snapping the blade out sure does make an impressive presentation!

I consider my Sifu exclusively a self-defense tool, and as such, I put a fine, polished razor edge on it, about 18 degrees per side.

Snapping mine open requires a double wrist snap. One motion to get past the cam that holds the blade closed, another to swing the blade open. Kind of awkward, but with practice... I still think a controlled thumb opening is the surest bet. Mine seems to snap open smoothly with little vibration. To me that says the mechanism isn't taking much of a beating.

Steve, try holding down the rolling lock release as you open the knife, the centrifugal force should allow it to snap open no problem....

I've practiced the snap opening with the lock button depressed and it works fine. I just wanted to get feedback on if the knife itself could handled the shock. Its not something I'd do daily, but it is a hell of a tactical opening with that big blade
