Looked around and did not see anything so thought I would post here. Just got a new sheath for a BHK and the leather is dry as hell. Talking the knife in and out of the sheath (it's still pretty tight) is causing the rough unfinished part of the leather to crumble in places.

What is the best product to moisturize and protect? I saw some stuff that said to stay away from petroleum products. I do have some mink oil but don't want to end up with another problem due to using the wrong product.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First a light dressing of PURE Neatsfoot oil, or as an acceptable substitute some Virgin Olive Oil from your kitchen. Then a couple of coats of top dressing to help seal it like TanKote by Feibing or substitute neutral wax shoe polish that you may already have at home.
