anyone care to point out a nice website with some good pointers to make sure im taking care of my blades correctly? i know how to take care of a japanese sword but im kinda clueless as to how to properly ensure a long life for my knives.... please ignore my ignorance!

:)

also if this is in the wrong forum sorry, i was unsure where to post it

keep your blades clean!!! wipe them off after use! and use tuf-glide on the blades!!! (with a cloth, or use tuf-cloth, cloth impregnated with tuf-glide).
I also use q-tips to wipe out the liners, ect. and also use a can of compressed air to help blow out any foreign material. Its mostly common sense as far as taking care of your knives. It doesnt matter what kind of steel it is, although some stain more than others, they all require care to make them last.

I keep all my knives in a room with a dehumidifier, of course thats many knives. The key is to keep them in a place with low humidity, and do not store them in leather sheaths, which easliy retain moisture. If you have bone, stag handled knives put a small, very light, coating of natural mineral oil on the handles to discourage shrinking (when stored).

sorry its very little, but it gives you an idea.

thanks!, your post more or less confirmed what i thought, taking care of katanas is pretty similar, ill try tuf - glide, i usually use a choji oil htat i make myself but ill give it a try! thanks again.
