I'm sure this has been posted before, but I of course can't seem to find the postings. Soooo ...

What are some tips for caring for an ATS-34 blade? I've got a Gerber A-F Covert (which I like so far, despite lots of carry and little use thus far), and I don't want the blade to rust.

Thanks in advance for all of your input! I know I'm still pretty much an FNG, but I'm glad to be here!! :-)

Just clean it well, wipe it with Tuff-Cloth, and you're good to go. I've managed to remove tiny rust spots from ATS-34 with 0000 steel wool and then prevent further problems with Tuff-Cloth. If you don't have any, get some; until it arrives, just use whatever good-quality lube you're using on the pivot. Coat the blade lightly.

No, I dont care for an ATS34 blade.

Beware salt. Sodium chloride. Mixed with water, the ions are free and the chlorides will assist in corrosion of any blade material short of Stellite/Talonite or the ceramics.

Salt water fishies and body sweat for example.

If you get salt on it, clean it pronto.

Salt is perhaps the most common corrosive.

2nd would be acids. From fruits and veggies to blood.

Same goes....simple soap cleaning session, and Tuf Cloth if you intend to see acids/salt again.

Ditto on the Tuf-Cloth. Regular use will avoid most probs. You can find them all over the net and also at most gun shops.
