Hi, I have a high polish blade that needs a little care. Any precautions I should take when wiping it down? I'm always afraid of scratching high polish finishes.

I usually use diaper flannel to wipe down my blades. I also use mineral oil and clove oil as a preservative/rust preventative, 100 parts mineral oil to 1 part clove oil. I have found this to be an excellent combination. BTW, the Japanese have used this oil combo for centuries to protect their swords. Take Care, Kelly:D

Hi Kelly, Thanks for the suggestions. What is diaper flannel. Is that the stuffing from a disposable diaper?

Do yourself a favor Average, and go out to an automotive store, and buy yourself a Chamois. Cut it up into several smaller square pieces, and you will have the best cleaning cloths ever. You will never scratch a blade with one of these... They are the best!:)
What ever you do... Never wipe a high polished blade with anything made of cotton!
Good luck!

Diaper flannel is a flannel material that is used in cloth diapers:barf:, and heavy flannel sheets. It is readily available in remnant form at any fabric store, or about any department store that has a fabric department. See if the sales person can cut down a remnant if you don't want/need a piece that is 36"X45". Have a good one, Kelly
