I have an opportunity to buy a Cargill knife date of 9/79 stag handle small boot knife with a 4 inch blade total length is 8 inches. Asking price of $750. Sound like a good deal ??

Seller is a collector and has an impressive collection of old time knife makers. The Cargill was appraised 20 years back by A G Russell for $500.

Well, we can assume it is real, then; but, what is the selling value today?

Mr. Cargill's folders seem to sell well, but what of the fixed blades? It might be worth $500 still.

After all, knives aren't an ever rising value commodity. Market tastes change.
