Hi all,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a nice, comfortable but tough pair of cargo pants? I need something that are in between my Craghopper's and say, a cheap and thin pair of Gap pants; something that would last long and be comfortable around the house or on a day hike.

I also have runner's legs so I'd prefer something on the slimmer side.

Any ideas? Thanks guys. :)

i am gonna offer a pair that is a bit more tactical but i love them. i don't know how i got along with out them honestly. they don't look overly tactical but provide me all the options i want when out on the trail for pockets. tru spec 24/7 pants. here is a video for them. that can show you all the options they have and multiple colors. i love the organization they afford and most people who see them just think they are regular cargo pants. they have one set that is 100 % cotton canvas which holds up extremely well but is a bit heavy for summer wear on the trail or city if your running around but great for fall. and a pair that is 50/50 blend cotton/polyester that are light weight and great for the summer.

Another vote for Tru-Spec 24/7 pants. Very well thought out pockets and well made too.

I'm probably going to catch some crap for this, but I like the LaPolice Gear Operator pants for daily wear. I know they are copies of another company's style and will not get into that here.
I have and have had, several pairs of 5.11's over the years going back to when they were just a style of pants, not an entire company. I have three pairs of the 24/7's which are my current, go to, hard use cargo pants.
But I wear the Operators most often. Here's what I like and don't like.
Likes: 60% cotton/40% nylon ripstop. This is the opposite percentages from every other cotton/poly ripstop pants. This makes them very breathable, soft and light. I have the "basic" model with the adjustable tabs, which allows the waist to be cinched up or let out, depending on what I carry or eat:)
They have a cool (although) copied style, that you won't see too much and they are slightly more tapered towards the ankle, a bit like the 5.11's. The 24/7's have a much straighter cut down the leg.
Don't likes: The material is light weight (thin) like I mentioned and I have my reservations as to their long term existance. I've had my pants for about two years though and there has been no damage or excessive wear. I wore 100% cotton ripstop OG-107's and BDU's in the Army and they seemed to only get better with age. There were/are a lot of loose threads, but this is a minor issue.
I'd be happy to answer any questions about them.

For light weight material, relatively speaking, the Tru-Spec xtreme pants are my favorite hands down. THey are pricey but worth it for me. They have knee patches ala tough skins growing up. Pockets are well thought out. Access to cargo pockets while sitting is a plus.

For heavy weight material, you can not beat the Duluth Trading Fire hose cargo's mentioned earlier.

I like the wrangler RIGGS ranger pants. They have that extra gusset in the crotch, reinforced knees and they are made of rip stop. Another bonus is the pockets have snaps instead of velcro, I hate velcro.

5.11 Tac Lite Pro

These are the greatest pants on the planet IMHO. Well designed, good pocket layout (dedicated knife pocket), reasonably priced and durable.
