Caribbean Blue Carbide Edge Frickie! DFK Clip (Sold)

Great blade shape, is this pocket size? I'm old school...steel blade, liner or frame lock.

Like if this was a small version of your frame lock...wow! I like your stuff dude. And woah, one color anodizing, now I don't know... tie dye or this...your're blowing our minds man!

Be well,

Don

Definitely pocket size. I have a plain one I use around the office or if I'm out with clients.

Thanks! It is pocket sized at
~ 6.8" long
~ 2.9" blade
The handle is just under 4".

Look out for these as a Framelock eventually. Meanwhile I have a new Framelock in the works that is very much a cross between this knife and the RF1!

Thanks!

Great to hear! These are a decent size yet seem friendly around non-knife people. Someone told me they didn't even think of it as a knife because they noticed the finish so much. The design is practical yet very much art knife inspired. I'm glad it is getting some use !

Great to hear, a cross between...super, still in CPM D2?
Do you have an ETA? I like knives I can use and am waiting on one of yours to pocket carry.

Daniel takes it HIGHER.

:D Thanks!

These will be straight up D2, .155" blades and .140" frames. Excellent blade to frame ratio, ergonomics, weight and edge geometry.

I'm pretty close on them with 12 in the works at the moment, I have all of the blades heat treated and half ground. The current RF1's are ahead of them though with lock fitting and frame chamfering up next.

I usually like to show off my designs before they are done or do a work in progress thread. These are top secret until the release and will be first come-first served! :D

I'm shooting for the magical four ounce mark (or less) on some too, I think I can do it with a carbon fiber frame side. I might have weighed one even! :D

Thanks Farchyld,

It seems you guys have known Daniel for some time? A good guy, hidden treasure.

So far I have his Dashi in 52100. I'm on his list for more things.

I'm waiting to hear comments from the new RF1 owners.

I really should post pics. My collection is growing!

Daniel does clean, quality work. He hosts a supporting, positive atmosphere and freely shares his knowledge among the rest of us plebs. You stumbled on one of modern knifemakings greatest marvels :)

Sounds great, can I get on the list, sounds like just what I want!
I have read D2 cuts better because of the larger irregular carbides than the CPM variety.

Secrets safe.

Don

Thanks guys! I'm just doing things the only way I know how and am lucky to have such great people around here.

CPMD2 vs D2 - I think the CPM has a finer grain and toughness, it can get a hair sharper too. The regular D2 is much harder to grind (wear resistant on abrasive materials) and is set up to have excellent edge holding. The larger D2 carbides may certainly cut longer. I'd have to do a ton of testing to see what I really liked but I must say the toughness and edge holding on both is top notch. I convert the steel over as much as I can with a dry ice slurry either way...

Sharing Knowledge - I keep very few secrets and believe greatness is only achieved by being the best! I'd rather run faster to win the race than run against someone slower.

True. Kit Carson put handle holes in one of his own early one-off knives, then CRKT put out a version of the Kit Carson-designed M16 model around 1998 I think, of which the original design had no handle holes at all.
However, Mr. Mayo has holes in just about most of his models, and is the more synonymous of the two when it comes to that type of handle design. That's why other knifemakers will often say "Mayo-inspired handles" when they feature holes in them. Kit Carson is more known for his introduction of the flipper mechanism.

Thanks for the technical stuff, food for the soul. D2 is real old school great stuff. Can't wait to sharpen and check it out, I love this stuff, glad you guys do to...my Alien brothers.

Daniel, I see you didn't get someone's email. I sent you two this Friday, did you get them? You know, just trying to buy stuff.

Don

Thanks, Gooey.
Don- Daniel will get to you. Trust me. He has so much going on at times.

Thanks Rolf, actually I was'nt concerned about me, Daniel communicates better than anyone I know. I was wondering if his email went down like his site did. Got to watch out for each other.

Congrats on your blade dude, and for sharing the cool pics.
