I recently purchased a Cold Steel Mini Ghurka Light Kukri, and I am wondering how I should care for it. I'm pretty new to the whole knife game, and I don't want to damage my knife with improper handling. Thanks, and let me know if this belongs in another forum.

Welcome to the forum. Keeping it wiped down with a light oil or WD-40 should work just fine. If it's carbon V the edge is all you really need to worry about. The black coating will protect the rest of the blade. My son was issued a SRK in first phase BUD/S, swam in the ocean with it. The only part that rusted was the edge. Hope this helps. later

What do you recommend as far as sharpening goes? Should I stick to the pros, or try to hack it (figuratively speaking) on my own?

And where do I guy the miracle cloth? Thanks.:)

Hi,

In terms of oil, I use Mineral oil. It's cheap, and works great of the purpose. As for sharpening, I'd practice on a cheaper similar styled blade, those reverse curve's can be tricky...:)

HTH:D!!!

Like everyone else mentioned, any type of rust preventative lube will do nicely. I prefer Break-Free CLP, as I use it on my guns so I've always got some handy.

A round diamond hone and a Crock stick work well on my Cold Steel Kukri.
