Hey guys I figured I drop this piglet question to u Hogs:

I recently purchased a Game Warden (uncoated) here on the Xchange and I was wondering if there are any maint. products that I could purchase to help take care of the blade?

thanks
nick

just make sure its dry prior to storage, infi will rust.

some people like to coat theirs with oil. i don't, since i typically use mine for food prep.

other than that, keep it sharp and use it!

Mineral oil for general maint... it won't go rancid and it is edible. ;)

If you plan on putting it a way for a while... Ren Wax.

I carry my uncoated GW all the time. I never do anything to the blade. I have even put it away dirty. No rust. I just wipe it off before I put it back in the sheath. Some times I wash it with soap and water if it get it greasy dirty.
I dove into a pool with my GW on to save a girl from drowning. I did not think to take the knife out and dry it off right then. A couple hours later I took it out and wiped it off, and put it back in the sheath. A couple hours after that I took it back out, and it was still covered in water from the moisture trapped in the sheath. No rust or anything to speak of.
But, I don't live in a marine environment. No salt in the air here. I had one Busse come from Oregon, with a satin finish, There was a noticeable finger print on the knife that did not want to come off. It did eventually, so it can stain.
