The Carnivor is going to be tip up. If you want one tip down we would need an advance order or you will have two holes in the butt of the knife.
With the lock holding the blade in place the tip up carry is very secure and much better then a ball detent.

I was distressed when I saw that it was tip up, however I learned that, if you release the lock and flip the knife, the blade swings out and you can then release the button to lock it. The opening is VERY fast, faster even than the tip down Military. I can also vouch for the fact that the lock really holds the blade in the closed position.

Will the clip style be the same as that pictured in Crawford's ad for custom Carnivours; i.e., very deep pocket carry?

Discount knives is offering a great price at http://www.discountknives.com/Roundeye/roundeye.htm but be warned that the three week backorder I expected when I ordered a Utility Neck Knife on March 1st has once again been pushed back, this time to late June. I am waiting patiently, as the price can't be beat. I am sure that as soon as Bob has them ready, they will be available.

If you are interested in a Tlonite version, visit Rob Simonich at http://www.simonichknives.com/idxtest.htm to have one custom made with your favorite handle materiels.

There was some talk about a Bladeforums Special Edition Carnivour, but I am not sure what the status of the project is. Bob? Spark? Is the dream still alive?

James,

The special BF Carnivour was put on hold because there was not enough response, largely due to a several "specials" being offered at once.

REKAT/Bob is still, as far as I know, working on getting a mega folder, SIFU, out and available to forumites.

I would hope a BF Carnivour with distinctive features would be available in the future. Perhaps, next year, with enough heads-up some people can prepare for it.

Pat uses a special clip that personaly I don't favor. IMHO it sets to deep in the pocket making deployment a bit of a problem. The tip up is deep but not that deep.
