Quite accidentally, I've found that the hammer loop on carpenter jeans serves very well to secure the tip of the khukuri sheath when walking. The loop is loose enough not to bind, yet tight enough to prevent the sheath from slapping my leg. Works for 12 and 15 inch AKs and the Pen knife. It is not as tight as a tie-down on a gun holster.
If I were a little more ambitious, I'd consider stiching a similar loop on most of my outdoor activity clothes, matching the fabric to keep it inconspicuous.
