Hi Guys,

I ran across this old Polaroid photo of myself my 1st week in-country in Dec '67 ("Bearcat" / 90th Replacement Battalion) and thought you may get a kick out of it. My Dad offered up his old Randall 3-6, but I didn't want to lose it nor could I afford a new one at the time I shipped out. The Old Timer served me well and took a lot of abuse. It came home with me, but went MIA in one of my divorces :D Apologise for the macho pose. I thought I was pretty hot shit at the time. 12 months of being a grunt fixed that.

Best,

Nothin' like that first round suckin' wind as it goes past your ear to convince you of your own mortality! :D

Welcome home bro.
Dale

Is that a 150 OT??

What did you use it for mostly?

You DO look sorta tough!!!
You need some tattoos on your arm though......

Thanks for posting the pic

Thanks, Dave

You nailed that one, Dale! Thanks.

Trent: I had no clue on the model. Just did some research. From memory matches up with a 150T. Used it for just about everything. Never had to go hand-to-hand. I'll see if I can photoshop a tattoo on

Tom: Back at you, Bro! 11B, Co, A 3/39. 9th Infantry Div, Old French Fort, Rach Kien, Fire Base Moore, Fire Base Lambert, Dong Tam. Time wise looks like we just missed each other North and South

thawk: A lot of little bitty dudes did mess with me :D

Best to all,

Great pic, and it's good to see an old SchradeUSA gettin' the job done. Thanks for your service, and I appreciate your sharing sharing some of it with us.

Do you have as much hair now as you did in that photo? :D I've got a few old pics of myself from my navy days, and my son likes to remind me that my "hair isn't big on top any more".

thx - cpr

Thanks very much, Mike. It was a privilege.

CPR: Funny you should mention that! I have very little hair left. "MPB" I think thay call it. It just ain't fair! The only good thing is that I cut it about 1/4" all the way around and it's easy to take care of. One of my daughters recently bought me a golf visor with "built in hair" and I prefer to be seen in that :D

Best,

As Larry would say: "Now that's funny right there..." :D I don't know if I want to tell my wife about it. She'd buy me one and paint the hair neon pink...

Judging from the size of the knife/sheath, I'd say it's a 15OT, one of the large Sharpfingers. The handle on yours looks like it's got three rivets, with the OLD TIMER shield imbedded between the first two. The small Sharpfinger only had two rivets, with the OLD TIMER shield centered between them. By the way, do you remember if the knife had a brass guard or not?

I love that style - had an old trapper friend in Montana who would wear a small one out every 3-4 years.

thx - cpr
