Still looking for a carrier that will hold a couple of CR 123's.

What I need should be mositure proof (waterproof would be nice, but I don't intend to dive with it!), reasonably sturdy and "pocket friendly" ie: no sharp edges or points to rip pocket linings, and as small as possible/practical

. Would perfer non-metalic material, but that's not a "must."

Have tried plastic film cans, but find that top pops off in my pocket.

One SS model "survival" capsule looked good, but the $40 price tag was a bit much. Have seen pix of the APS "Time Capsule" but nobody seems to stock them. Just want something to carry the 2 the batteries, nothing more.

Sooooo: any suggestions? Thanks!

Hmm, I would say pick up a DL223 and gut it of the two 123's inside and then use it to carry the 123s.

Have you tried a bog standard APS film container? Bit of tape around the top and 2 fit into it ... cost, nothing from a photo processor or someone with an APS camera!

Try Nalgene. They have small containers like film cans, but smaller diameter. The lid snaps on much better than a film can. They make a very short one which I use for Tylenol, and a longer one which will hold two 123s.

I found mine with camping supplies at a local sporting goods store for less than $1. Or you can see if this link works. If it doesn't, look under travel kits, LDPE, snap lids.

Ummmm....how 'bout a Surefire M2 or Z2??? :p

Then you have a spare flashlight with spare bulbs in it!

I tried that, too, after Mike suggested it in another thread. The top popped off one day after getting banged around in a cargo pocket....so I put a piece of electrical tape over it, and it hasn't happened again.
Those big spy capsules are  Too bad they don't come with a roll of Advantix film.

There is a Tylenol tube at most drug store checkouts now.

It fits 2 batteries perfectly. Put something between them for insulation.

Have you considered a pouch designed to hold multiple quantities of shotgun shells(probably a smaller gauge shotshell: .410, 20 ga., etc.). Such pouches are available for, say, 6 shells and made of fabric(satisfying the non-metallic/pocket friendly quality). The pouch usually has an elastic cloth band inside and sewn into several loops so that each loop holds a shell. This would seem imho to be a reasonably effective way of holding 123A batteries. I don't know if any are waterproof, but they certainly are water resistant.

Hope this helps,
Mith:D

If it's just the batteries and not also a fragile spare bulb assembly, why can't you just wrap 'em in cling film?

SureFire has a spares carrier. You can fit about six SF123A batteries in it. It's water resistant, too. I recently received a SureFire WeaponLight™ catalog in the mail and just thought I'd share.

I just put the batteries side-by-side and tape them together. It's a small package. It might be slow to deploy the two spare batteries, but a bonus is that you can use your knives to remove the tape. :)

Diamond Cut II, the spares carrier is fairly large, and its round shape is unsuited to pocket carry. Cool if you have a bag though.
